Last...
We have entered the season of 'lasts' in our daughter's schooldays, and because she is our younger child, the 'last ever' to do with school. Tonight was the last parents' evening. Obviously I wasn't going to take a photo of the event, so here instead is a blurry, shot-under-protest ('Muuuum!') photo of the school outfitter's. Rows of variegated blazers and kilted skirts. How quickly the next few months are going to pass...
Elementary my dear Watson!
ReplyDeleteGood sleuthing, Mal!
DeleteIt's a difficult time for mothers. You want your kids to grow up and lead full and happy lives...yet you want them to remain children. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteI can sort of understand why some women have huge families. Sort of.
DeleteYes, those lasts can be sad. They grow up too fast and now the next step comes before they are completely out of the home. Mine are both far away.
ReplyDeleteThat's the next step that I'm not looking forward to, Larry, since both of mine are keen to emigrate. Ah well, it will mean nice holidays for the parents!
DeleteI know this feeling - our youngest is about to graduate High School and go on to college. It's just a few weeks now until graduation in mid-May.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that we're both at the same stage. I hope your college/application process isn't as complicated as ours. Tho thankfully we're now at the end of that. Get your hanky out for graduation!
DeleteAs well as Lasts, you will have lots of Firsts to look forward to, though! x
ReplyDeleteYou're quite right, Christine. I must follow your example and be more glass-half-full-ish!
DeleteI wish I'd had nice uniforms like those when I was in school, it would have been so much easier to get dressed in the morning!
ReplyDeleteThey're certainly bright, aren't they? The good thing is that there's absolutely no choice, and therefore no money wasted on fashion for school. Tho at nearly 18 my daughter is beginning to feel a bit old for uniform.
DeleteThis pic sure takes me back! I like Christine's idea of all the firsts to come.
ReplyDeleteDo you still have bits of your uniform? I have my blazer, which looks very threadbare. My parents obviously (sensibly) weren't going to buy a new one for the last few months of school.
Deletebeen there, done it.. sympathize with you,
ReplyDeletehow funny actually that you photograph blazers instead of the event !
that says a lot, does it not?
courage !!
Ode to a bittersweet moment!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have never had such a strict uniform, but I know my daughter will be very glad to see the back of "school shoes"! Hope the transition goes smoothly for all of you.
