Glasgow-Delhi-Kathmandu

My son checking in at Glasgow airport this week for a flight to Delhi via London Heathrow, and then overland to Kathmandu.  He's spending the summer volunteering in Nepal.

    1. We've heard a few already via email, although power cuts are getting in the way of communication!

  2. What a world of maternal concern there is in that photo and two short sentences. I wish him a wonderful and fulfilling summer, and a safe return to his mum at the end of it.

    1. It wasn't as hard at the airport as I expected. But when we got home and I saw the open jar of Nutella from his breakfast still on the kitchen counter...

    1. I MAY get some photos from him during the summer. I need to grapple with the whole 'drop box' thing.

  9. Great pic. You have to admire the openness to what will surely be a life-altering experience. Back during the Balkan War, mine decided that relief work in Croatia would be interesting.

  12. What a great summer is in store for your son.

I am sure you will miss him, but I'm also possitive that he will have a lot of interesting things to tell you about Nepal when he gets home.

It seems that as I look back on when my kids were growing up, they went on so many adventures in different countries and now my grandchildren are doing it. As for me, I did get to Mexico once or twice, but just over the border, not to one of the great vacation spots. Add to that a few visits to Canada and that is the extent of my foreign country visits. I will say though that I am glad my kids and grandkids are taking advantage of travel opportunities while they are young.

  15. That post speaks volumes, Linda. I hope the excitement of his adventures will soon more than offset the poignancy of his absence. (Did you put the Nutella jar away straight away or leave it out for a little bit?)

  18. What a brave son and Mom! I know it's a mixed blessing as we watch our children leave. I've done it time after time after time...it does get MUCH easier after a few times! You'll both grow a lot this summer.
