Going to the pictures

Test your Scots vocabulary and place these films.  I can't call them 'movies' - I'm sticking with good old British 'films'.

  1. Got 'em (but I don't want to spoil the fun for everyone else)
I like how they mix in the terms 'movies' 'pictures' and 'cinema'!

  6. Think I have them all ('a) - very funny. My Dad used to talk about "going to the flicks"! Those were the days, a double-bill every Saturday.

  7. Fantastic peek at your language. I've been reading some South African thrillers with a translator close at hand. In Pretoria, they see their films (pronounced fill -ems) at the local bioscope.

  8. They are fab - I do like a bit of scots humour. A bloke up here, artist type did a calender of simlar ilk just using local names and dialect......if you're versed in Orcadian its quite amusing!

  9. Star Wars, Gone With the Wind, The Graduate? Those posters remind me a little of the drinks coasters and place mats you can buy with explanations of some Scots/Glasgow words - Eejit, Scunner etc.
