Skywatch Friday - framing the day

Now that the days are growing shorter sunrise and sunset are the backdrop to my walk to and from work.  Above, sunrise over Arthur's Seat just before 8 a.m.

Below, sunset behind the Mound and Edinburgh Castle at 6.20 p.m.

More skies from across the world are at Skywatch Friday.

  3. I love your photos of Scotland!!
Cool and crisp here in south Texas would be 50 -60 degrees F. Much like your summer day!

Trader Joe's win eis all imported so it come from all over the world. ALL are very well priced but the $2.99 (which would be about a pound in your currency) has the Trader Joe label on them. I bought a couple other bottles for a bit more - one a white wine and one red. I admit to buying them for the BOTTLES!! They were so pretty and will make the best wine lights! Louis Dean bought some Guinness recently and said it was in honor of Scotland and the good time he had there!

  5. Such beautiful skies they are! I hate that our days are getting shorter since it is so lovely in summer to have the sun at 9 pm.

  16. Hi Linda!

My husband was at Aberdeen from 2002 to 2005 -- and actually, we lived in Airdrie the whole while because we have numerous friends there. Michael had an advisor in Glasgow and only went to Aberdeen about once a year. So, we missed out on getting to know Aberdeen but we had a very special time in Airdrie (I know most people roll their eyes at that!).

We are returning to Scotland next autumn for 6 weeks as we have been awarded a sabbatical grant that will pay all expenses (a miracle!). we are eager to re-introduce our children to Scotland (2 were born there) and so are spending a lot of time studying about Scotland in our homeschool this year.

As for bridal showers -- to my knowledge they are not yet making the rounds in Scotland. :) All i hear about are hen parties......Displaying wedding dresses was just something my sister thought of last minute.

  18. If I wasn't so dang full of gyro and greek salad (okay, and beer) right now, I would sigh deeply over these photos. I will refrain, as it might result in an unfortunate explosion.

  19. What gorgeous photos, Linda. They are amazingly beautiful. I just can't imagine going to work in such a sunrise and coming home in such a sunset. I keep forgetting that the days are very short where you live these days. I just can't imagine that some of your blogging friends had a favorite of those photos. I thought they were all just stunning and could never have thought of one being a favorite.

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I just wish I could have posted better photos of Rich's backyard. It is totally spectacular and neither photo really shows that. I just can't take a decent picture and every time we go on vacations, I love to have pictures and so Dick has to take them. He hates to so consequestly takes lousy pictures and never very many. I am always so disappointed when I get home. I just wish I could take photos half as good as yours. It must have something to do with the camera, as well. Neither of us can do anything complicated so I guess we will never get good photos. So sad.

  22. I'm so glad the time is just right for taking sunset and sunrise pictures at the moment. Your skies are gorgeous.
Thanks for your comments on my blog. Your remark about the wee label on the apple made me smile. I hadn't noticed it when I did my first photo shoot indoors and only noticed it when I took the fruit bowl outdoors, so I removed it. Congratulations to you for noticing !
