Longing for Speyside
The heat has reached even Scotland, and the city is stifling. I am longing for the North and an escape to Speyside, although it looks as if the heat will follow us there.
Meantime I am refreshing myself by looking at photos I took when we were last up in June. Perhaps the sunny yellow of the broom was foreshadowing our proper summer.
I guess it is hot all over then!! I don't think it EVER got hot back in the year Amber and Mike lived there! At least Texas is not having months of triple digit heat as we have had in the past! 97 degrees today and the weather forecast said, "Seasonably hot!" That it IS!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Love the bright yellow bushes that you've captured so nicely.
ReplyDeleteWe are sweltering here in Toronto too - it's to be 35˚C tomorrow but then hopefully cooler for the weekend. I hope you find some cool somewhere! The broom is lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color and light in these photos.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what the glorious yellow shrub was. We have a couple varieties of broom that are hardy here in Alberta but they don't grow that large. They are a stunning contrast to the surrounding landscape; the epitome of summer blooming by the roadside.
ReplyDeleteNydelig blomstring! Send litt varme til Nord-Norge, vær så snill! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is good to have some warm, sunny days:) And finally it seems to have stopped raining in my part of Norway too:)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the summer!
Speyside or the north always sound like heaven - our temps today - Kansas City - are headed for 38C.
ReplyDeleteWhy they sang about "Goin' to Kansas City", I'll never know.
I love the color of those shrubs! It has been very hot here in Canada as well, but I love it :)
ReplyDeleteOh I do hope you are on your way there soon. Today I walked from our stiflingly hot house into the centre of Aberdeen to meet a friend near the Castlegate. MOST unusually, it was so hot I didn't take any kind of jacket or cardigan. However, what should greet me as I neared our meeting spot? Haar! I hadn't felt cold for quite a while so it was a novelty. Silly me to go out without another layer.
ReplyDeleteIs the yellow bush what we call Scotch Broom in California??? The yellow in my shot is more of a scrub brush...Thanks for visiting MammothLakesDP!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that top shot!!!
I am crossing my fingers that you find stillness and cool on your trip North!
