Loch Coruisk, Skye

Looking out from the haven of Loch Coruisk to the islands of the Inner Hebrides.

On the way in we passed seals basking in the sun.

The boat deposits its cargo of walkers, and heads off back to the village of Elgol.

Climbing up the rocks from the landing stage, you pass a natural infinity pool.

We had a brisk hour and a half ashore, walking round one shore of the loch, just missing stepping on a sundew plant in my case, and wished that we'd planned for a longer day's walking. Strangely, I have no photos of the loch. I felt curiously inhibited in taking photos - it was a place set apart. My husband may have some photos - I just have to wrest them from wherever they've been safely 'filed'.

I'll leave you with this slice of a mountain from the homeward journey.

  1. Great photos, would love to see it but I love the way through bloggers like you I can. Your seals are totally different to ours.

  2. The pictures are breathtakingly beautiful, Linda. I am almost stunned and can hardly believe you only spent an hour and a half walking around. If I were surrounded by such beauty, I would have to spend hours just taking it all in.

The way I sound, you might think I never see anything lovely like this here. Actually, I don't even know where I would go to match this, but we do have some magnificent parks and places that are a pretty long drive from here, but Skye just has it's own special kind of beauty and I can hardly take it all in. Does it take you very long to get there? You do have some wonderfully interesting places within a days drive, don't you?

  9. Linda, it looks like you had a beautiful day. I agree that there are just some places that move your spirit and don't require a photograph to remember.

  11. Ditto on breathtaking beauty of the place and your superb captures! Even the terms (infinity pool - how great is that) are splendid.
Thanks for your notes on my recent photos - enjoyed hearing about your aircraft carrier encounter & I think the coral house flowers are of the snap-draggon variety. Good reminder for me to take a close-up of the flowers too.

How's the school year start? Big one for you family, is it not?
