Lamp post notices

With the Spring the lamp posts along my walk to work have blossomed with all sorts of notices.  There's the get fit/keep fit theme.

The standard missing pet theme.

And the personal and touching.

  1. You've got to love that the ancient tradition of the public notice continues.

    1. There seems to be something of a renaissance just now - I wonder why? Too much social media?

  2. I have seen so many notices tacked up on telephone posts here in the US that you couldn't even read them all...some half torn off, some so water soaked that you couldn't read them and so many nails in the poles that finding a spot to tack something up was impossible.

    Interesting reading! LOL

    1. Apart from Hugh's notice, the others are all laminated. In fact most of the ones I see are. Something to do with Scottish weather...?

  4. Oh the last two! At least Hugh seems to have had a happy ending. I hope the dachshund has equally good luck.

Do you know I stop to read the notices on lamp-posts, especially the ones put up by the City - the ones with endless lists of streets that are going to have parking charges put up, etc.

    1. My heart went out to Hugh as much as to the dachshund. It was very gentlemanly of his!
I didn't know that about you - at least one person reads City of Aberdeen notices.

  5. Those lamp post notices are pretty interesting. They must know that there are a lot of people on that particular walkway so I'm sure that is why they post them like that. It's good advertising!

    1. You're right Darlene, there's pretty constant traffic, what with people walking to work, walking dogs, out with prams and pushchairs, running, school kids dawdling to school...

  6. They are so easy to just walk past usually, without even looking at them. That is quite a variety you have there. An interesting theme, and yep, they are starting to appear around here as well. take care

    1. That's a very good way of summing it up - it's quite a well disposed personality I would say.

  9. Public notices.....no matter what country or time in history!

And I love RedPat's comment......it DOES seem like a personality snapshot! And a very NICE personality at that!

    1. Do feature your collection sometime, Marcheline. It's always droll to see ourselves as others see us.

  11. Ah, to live where you do! All we seem to have here are the usual advertisements (illegally posted) and the upcoming or over-and-forgotten yard sale signs! Although I did see a humorous sign once that read "C*ap for Sale!" Needless to say I did not go to see his offerings...

    1. Come to think of it, I don't know if these signs are legal or not! Love the 'C*ap for Sale'!
