Hogmanay provisions
Slick advertising in the window of Walker's bakery shop in Aberlour (population c.900). The Christmas display against a holly-patterned background was whisked away this week, to be replaced by the traditional provisions for Hogmanay - shortbread and whisky, with some fruit cake and cherry cake thrown in for good measure.
Wishing you a Happy New Year, and safe first-footing this Hogmanay.
Happy New Year Linda! The provisions look incredible. I have to tell you how wonderful your sunrise posting was! Thanks for the tour around Edinburgh through out the year and for your encouraging comments to me as I began blogging.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!

Have just come across your blog. What a stunning set of photos. The sunsets are quite glorious. I like the shop display, reminding one of times past, that seem to be in the present. Hope the shop keeps its tradition to enchant those of us that remember it that way.
ReplyDeleteMany good wishes for the New Year, Linda. That photo is the essence of this season in Scotland. xx
ReplyDeleteI believe it is still a family concern!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I'd like those provisions - I opened a bottle of 15-year-old Scotch just this week. And although I don't often find shortbread around here I do love it.
ReplyDeleteHhhhm, looks delicious:-)) Thanks for your kind comments! I wish you a happy new year full of inspiration. Hugs from Luzia.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is, delicious! I am trying to decide if I like this gorgeous red plaid best, or the holly sprigs of last week! I think this one...
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you.
Happy New Year to you!! Amber and Mike are being teased (by way of Facebook!) about Hogmanay since they were in Scotland last year celebrating. They made lasting friendships while there.
ReplyDeleteThe window display looks GOOD to ME!!! I wish I had brought home some of these goodies last year!
Happy New Year and best wishes for 2011.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Sweden! :-)
You can't have New Year without shortbread, can you? Or black bun. Mmmm...
ReplyDeleteAnd a blessed New Year to you, too, Linda. Let us all be good stewards of the time the Lord has given us with this gift of a new year. Thank you for your comment on my blog. We look forward to your shipment, and appreciate the effort you spent in order to get it to us. I'm spending my first day of 2011 sick, so things can only get better from here, right?
ReplyDeletehappy new year! what a great window display of wonderful shortbread, whisky and other goodies. the tartan cloth is beautiful. i was admiring your sunrise shots in a previous post and had to look up to see where the Convals are. absolutely stunning skies. nice job on catching it so well.
