River Spey, Christmas Day
Our Christmas Day walk was under a grey sky, with just a glimpse of a pale lemon sunset in the west. The Spey was sludgy with floating ice.
To the north, hail showers drifted over the lower slopes of Ben Aigen.
A last shaft of sunlight brought out warm colour in the willows by the river, but the water reflected that unique icy blue of the midwinter sky.
it looks like it was a super day for a walk! I particularly like the shot with the willows.
ReplyDeleteIt looks cold, but very pretty. Isn't Speyside one of the Scotch producing regions?
ReplyDeleteAlthough it's a dark and gloomy sort of day in your photos, my desert eyes are drawn to all that lovely moisture. We haven't seen a drop of rain for a couple of months and then it was literally just a drop or two. I keep looking out the window at our rare overcast sky and hoping.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting HDP today, Linda. These are lovely landscapes.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my lake I walk around. Looks beautiful and cold.
ReplyDeleteChristmas card perfect! Hope you and yours had a wonderful holiday.

ReplyDeletelovely photos, from such a different land to this one, we are HOT about to be 43degrees C tomorrow and I am cooking for 7 for New Years Eve, and I have decided on a roast!!
ReplyDeleteHope the expected cool change arrives before I have to cook!
Happy New Year.
Such lovely photographs, but oh so cold in appearance! I really like the last photograph. The colorful trees seem to add a little warmth to the picture!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!! This is the way Winter is SUPPOSED to look!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful !! Nice blog. Wish you a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteOh I do love scotland! Your pictures are beautiful and make me want more than ever to find a way to move there! The children loved the pictures of the castle in the snow!
ReplyDeleteI really like the photos but the bottom one is stunning. I am also in awe of the different names over there of things. And yet we have native American names attached to everything.
