River Spey, Christmas Day

Our Christmas Day walk was under a grey sky, with just a glimpse of a pale lemon sunset in the west. The Spey was sludgy with floating ice.

To the north, hail showers drifted over the lower slopes of Ben Aigen.

A last shaft of sunlight brought out warm colour in the willows by the river, but the water reflected that unique icy blue of the midwinter sky.

  2. It looks cold, but very pretty. Isn't Speyside one of the Scotch producing regions?

  3. Although it's a dark and gloomy sort of day in your photos, my desert eyes are drawn to all that lovely moisture. We haven't seen a drop of rain for a couple of months and then it was literally just a drop or two. I keep looking out the window at our rare overcast sky and hoping.

  14. I really like the photos but the bottom one is stunning. I am also in awe of the different names over there of things. And yet we have native American names attached to everything.
