Bizarre

Am I the only person who finds this advertisement totally incongruous?

The clue is in the German, in case this brand of chocolate isn't 'enjoyed' world-wide.

The last time I looked, this brand was aimed at the 'you can eat our snack between meals' market of pre-teens, promoting a milky, quasi healthful content, and the even younger Kinder egg pocket money market, with a milk chocolate shell enclosing miniature, self-assembly toys. Some of them very clever and durable, like a wee wooden train. Times change, obviously.

  1. Hilarious! We have Kinder Buenos here too, though (perhaps thanks to my media-obliviousness) I haven't seen any marketing to pre-teens or anyone for that matter. I assumed this product was the Kinder Suprise for grown-ups, so I wouldn't have noticed the incongruity. It is quite bizarre once you point it out!

  2. Yes, that is a weird combo. I am sorry you have to endure Sex and the City over there too. I can't take blame for bad movies but I am sorry you have to endure it also.

  3. I like the inverted commas round 'enjoyed'. They are a bit light for me. If I want choc, I want choc. Serious choc.

  4. Do you suppose the lack of chocolate bar availability would have anything to do with the willingness to give away the ultimate night out?

    Naaawwwww

  5. I don't know about over there, but in Canada the Kinder Surprise eggs are geared towards children, but the bars are definitely geared towards adult women as a 'healthy' quick snack for today's woman on the go! Hmph...no matter how many ads they shove at me, I still won't have a chocolate bar for a snack unless I'm super desperate...or unless it's chocolate of the 70% plus dark variety lol I'm a chocolate snob, I know, but my boyfriend makes his own chocolate and once you've been fed stuff that good...

  6. I thought Kinder seemed familiar. My husband's boss gives our son Easter eggs with the toys inside. I think they're from Kinder. We're in the States, so I don't know where he gets them. It's kind of cool though.

  7. Interesting. We don't have this product on our side of the pond.

  8. I may be the only person in the world not to have watched even a second of 'Sex and the City'.

Karine, it's quite possible that I haven't caught up with the shift in target consumer for this product. I just wonder that they still call it 'Kinder'.

  9. Nope - I have never seen any of it either, and I am quite proud of that really! It took me a while to catch on to your meaning, but I am sure I have seen an advert for this bar aimed at children - a snack after school possibly.
Thanks so much for your kind comments last week. xxx
