Skywatch Friday - grey

Not a lot of excitement in our skies just now. In fact this absence of sky is as exciting as it's got. You can just see the vague spire of Edinburgh's Gothic Spaceship.

Somewhere in the world there will be vibrant skies at Skywatch Friday.

  1. Wow, you are seriously lacking in sky today! But it's a very beautiful photo. And I hope Princes Street Gardens will soon be back to its bouncy self after the Christmas festivities. Thank you also for your very kind comment today. I'll reply there later on (if you are really wanting bookmarks, e-mail me!). Must go drop off some applications now!

  2. Wow - that is FOG! Good for the complexion I guess!

  3. Talk about thick fog!!! We mostly get fog like that in the Fall in Montreal.

  4. I thought it was Warriston Cemetery at first!

  5. Very nice! I also posted a foggy photo for SWF this week, but I suspect your fog was warmer than my fog.

  7. I think this shot is gorgeous...so serene and uncluttered. It does remind me of Scotland. Bet it was a bit chilly when you shot it. Take care and have a grand weekend.

  8. That's an awesome photo, but oh my goodness. That looks more depressing than the mass amount of snow out my door.

  9. Oh, I love the foggy photo. We had fog the other morning, and I was not happy that I didnot bring my camera along to take some pics. Nice work!!!

  10. That is a good picture - we can all take pictures of glowing sun set skys - but to make it interesting (to say the least) when the world is robbed of colour is great!

  11. a beautifully moody and introspective image! very very nice. fog leaves us a heightened sense of sound to compensate for what we cannot see, and I hear this! thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your kindness behind, I appreciate it very much. have a beautiful weekend!

  12. It is a beautiful shot. One has to study it for a while and then I realize all the detail that is in it. It is wonderful.

  13. It looks like fog you could eat (if you were so inclined)

  15. Svenske Floyd - thank you. Nice that you appreciate Scottish weather!

Christine, I daresay the gardens will bounce back soon.

RedPat - that's one positive slant on our damp weather, I suppose!

  16. Cool fog shot. I like the gradation of the objects in the photo. The trees closest are the easiest to distinguish and yet one can still see the spire in the background. That sort of thing always raises my curiosity. I wonder what's up there. Let's go look.

  17. Karine, our weather has been topsy-turvey this year, so we may have got some of your Fall weather in our Spring.

Mal, I can see how you thought Warriston. You have a knack for allocating Scottish landmarks. I'm still chuckling about your 'Dunrobin Castle' from the summer.

Al, I'm hoping to get time today for Skywatch visiting, and I'll check out your fog and compare shades of grey.

Kristina and Rajesh, glad you liked the shot.

Genie, yes, it was chilly in that penetrating way that comes with fog.

Paula, you're right, at least with snow you get blue skies.

Forgetmenot, it's so frustrating when you don't have your camera. My mobile phone doesn't take good pictures, so it's a poor substitute.

StewartM, thanks for the kind words. I am trying to make the best of what we have just now!

Miss Becky, now that I think back to that morning I do remember how different things sounded.

Larry, I'm flattered that you took time to pick out the detail.

Lesley, I'm trying to imagine the taste of fog. Funny about the word verification!

Nonizamboni, you're a fellow grey-skies sufferer? I'll visit to see what you're going through just now!

Pamela, I thought you might like the cashmere softness of this grey!

Vicky, I felt sorry for tourists whose one day it was in Edinburgh.
