Skywatch Friday - Shetland rainbows

Days of sun and rain and March winds here just now, and after a winter in the city one suddenly longs to escape to the hills. "Blows the wind today and the sun and the rain are flying/Blows the wind on the moors today..." Robert Louis Stevenson's poem always comes to my mind on days like these, and to fit my mood I've chosen this photo of Shetland.

  4. This photo makes me remember those days in Aberdeenshire. It was a year, when we did not see the sun very much. But incredible colours, shadows and views.
Thank you for this atmosphere, quite different compared now our sunny, snowy, glimmering landscapes! No spring yet here, -16C this morning :)

  9. This really has everything from rainbows to rainclouds. It makes my island look drab and overcrowded on a day like this.

  11. Thanks for visiting my SWF. I love your rainbow. Your picture also reminded me of days past when I would be in Dunoon, Scotland with the US Navy. We had a submarine base their, which closed in 1992. I took a moment and looked at your blog. You have a great blog. T^hanks for sharing.

  16. Hi Lindab:)

    Greetings!

    The photo is enchanting!

You have dark clouds, little light, a beautiful rainbow, a meandering river and a cluster of houses. The place is magical. It looks as though it is going to rain any time. But if there are heavy winds the clouds can be blown away and there will be bright sunlight. Anything can happen. It is a long time since I have seen a rainbow. May be next rainy season I will be fortunate to see one.

It looks like those houses are far away from the city. No pollution and no traffic jams. I wonder what these people do for a living. May be this is a holiday resort. Very interesting to make surmises.

I am amazed to note that Scotland is also called GOD’S OWN COUNTRY. All along I thought that only Kerala was called that. Wonders never cease.

Many thanks for visiting my post and leaving an interesting comment.

    Wish you a wonderful day.
    Joseph:)
