Skywatch Friday - Arthur's Seat
A highland peak beside a sea loch? Miles of desolate moorland all around, the silence broken only by the curlew's cry?
A nice thought, but it's Arthur's Seat, in the middle of Edinburgh. Not bad, I suppose. It's not every city that has an extinct volcano in its midst, which is also linked to King Arthur.
My daughter acted as photo scout for these shots. She noticed Arthur's Seat wreathed in mist on her way to catch the bus to school, and texted me to go and take a photo.
More skies around the world are at Skywatch Friday.
Love the fact that your daughter is scouting for you. Nice to have her take interest in your blog.
ReplyDeleteThe view is wonderful...and the contrast of zoom and wide view is splendid. Peaks and valleys and rivers make the city-views so much more interesting. Lovely photography.
Cleverly deceptive! I definitely thought we were in the wilds!
ReplyDeleteAH! Such mystery in the mist! :) Lovely shots.
ReplyDeleteThis photo is beautiful. The fog makes the scene magical. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteBlue sky
Breathtaking! Thank you Linda!
ReplyDeleteI love mist, beautiful photos!
ReplyDeletehappy weekend to you:)
my daughter does the same, she calls me every time she sees a good shot.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
Have a nice weekend
I like both photos, and your commentary!
ReplyDeleteYou had me going Linda...it's still just as magical...maybe more so BECAUSE it is viewed from the heart of the city.
ReplyDeletehappy skywatching
What a fantastic photo - it certainly looks like it should be in the Highlands.
ReplyDeleteI remember being in Banff (Canada) and being freaked out by there being a great big mountain at the end of the road. But Edinburgh does the effect just as well too.
A moody day for sure. Hmmm, now I want a phot scout!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, a photo scout...how wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have recognized Arthur's Seat in the mist, although I spent a week in Edinburgh some years ago. I probably wouldn't have recognized the second picture, either, I must admit.
Beautiful photos, Linda. Thank you for sharing them.

looks like the top of the world, I'm hoping it's extinct
ReplyDeleteI had heard of it in the Rebus books and when I saw your 1st photo I thought "Isn't it in the city?" Great shot! And a good daughter to give you the call.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have your very own photo scout out and about!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! I LOVE seeing Scotland as YOU see it!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Strong. Protective. Thanks for this post!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views through the mist.
ReplyDeleteLooks so mysterious for me...
ReplyDeleteLinda, have you noticed -it's the second time that we have posted the same theme; hehehe :)
Last week we posted about low clouds!
Am I ever glad your daughter told you about that, you got some beautiful shots out of it! And guess what? Montreal has an extinct volcano in the middle of it too!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots and well done to your daughter for helping out! Looks a tad damp!
ReplyDeleteit is always nice to see a peak rising above teh clouds. Makes for good shots. :)
ReplyDeletevery nice daughter ;) great atmosphere in this misty shot !
ReplyDeleteit is my wish to see scotland in person one day. until then, you've made my wish just bit closer. thank you!
ReplyDeleteCool shots. I like the low lying clouds in the second one. Like a blanket coming down on the city.
ReplyDeletewondeful skywatch, very nice photos
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and mysterious.
ReplyDeleteLike it a lot! We have some heights and cliffs in the Stockholm area too, but no such high one that near to the very city.
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful shot. Volcanoes we do not have in Iowa, yes earthquakes on a rare occasion but not volcanoes on the prairie.
ReplyDeleteThe distant mountain looks really inviting!!
ReplyDeletePixellicious Photos
Gorgeous skywatch you've got here, thanks to your daugher, and you! :)
