Scenic Sunday: Cycling Project - mystery mountain
My son took no photos on days 5 and 6 of the Cycling Project trip. Day 5 was a deceptive 36 miles from Ullapool to Clachtoll, but if you know that corner of Scotland you'll know that there are some extreme gradients on the road. (It's also the corner of the world to the south of which Tolkein situates Middle Earth in the map at the front of Lord of the Rings). Day 6 was a rest day spent sea kayaking off Clachtoll.
So for my first Scenic Sunday post I'm reduced to posting a scenic but nameless mountain from Day 4. My son doesn't know ('I just took the photo, Mum'), and although I know mountain outlines such as Suilven and Canisp and the Torridon range, I'm not so good on the rest. Could it be An Teallach? (Pronounced Ann Challoch, with the first 'ch' as in 'church' and the second a soft 'ch' as in 'loch'). Clarification welcome!

An intriguing mountain, seeming more like a bluff with its variation of peaks! Lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteIt could be Cul Mor - but mountains seem to change shape depending on what site you look at so I'm not at all sure! Seems like it's good weather there anyway.
ReplyDeleteI have no clue what I'm looking at, but if it's in Scotland, I'm interested! Thanks for the pronunciation clues.
ReplyDeleteNameless but still very pretty! Hope the rest of the trip goes well!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the cycling and hope the weather's kind to you. This is a very bold mountain. I guess all mountains are bold in their own way but there's something quite magnificent and so very substantial about this one!
ReplyDeleteWow, a beautiful mountain. So scenic. Perfect shot.
ReplyDeleteBelieve that could be Cul Mor which is quite near to Stac Polly
ReplyDeletevery beautiful, by any name
ReplyDeleteOur car struggles around those roads, I really cannot imagine it being much fun on a bicycle so well done! Sea kayaking is definitely more my bag & you can't beat a bit of loch-hopping at this time of year (before all the midgies start biting) & camping on the shoreline.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful photograph and watch gorgeous country. It almost looks like an ancient "shield" volcano...I have no idea but I was just reading about them as I was checking up on my erupting volcano in Alaska. The photos they showed of these shield volcanos looks very similiar to the shape of this mountain. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteSmiles
I absorbe your photos from your tour like a sponge.
ReplyDeleteHa! I still don't know. Mountains are like clouds- changing shape all the time in the different light. Took ne a while to realise it was not you doing the cycling. :)
