Skywatch Friday: Cycling Project - 11.12 pm
Not quite 11.12 pm yet, in this first shot. This is only 9.55 pm. After a hard day's cycle to Scourie, what better than to spend all the long Northern evening on the beach. Glorious freedom, to sit and take shot after shot of the setting sun. This next one is taken at 10 pm.
And then to the serious business of toasting marshmallows over a driftwood fire.
The fire glows red as the light fades.
Here's 11.12 pm. No reason to go to bed on these glorious May nights.
Photos taken by my son on his S3 Cycling Project. For other skies around the world visit Skywatch Friday.
Beautiful photos for Sky Watch Friday, you have done well to capture the play of light.
ReplyDeleteAaah...people who've never been will never realise what they're missing about those incredible North Western beaches.
ReplyDeleteThese photos help though.
I love summer nights like these on the West Coast.....you can't beat them.
ReplyDeleteAll of the photos are marvelous, but that bottom picture is beyond perfect. It takes your breath away when you first see it. You live in a beautiful land.
ReplyDeletethis serie is really good !!
ReplyDeleteThe last one with that metallic sea washing to the shore was soooo great.
ReplyDeleteAmazing sky at 10pm!
ReplyDeleteWonderful glowing clouds and crackling beach fire.
I could almost taste the marshmallows
and feel the warmth.
I alway try to contact the "skywatcher" before me on the list and very glad I did today.
These shots are fantastic Linda, the last one is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Wonderful skywatch shots.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
Beautiful shots and so relaxing after a hard days peddle. You are right there is no sleep on nights like this. Thank you for sharing this journey.
ReplyDeleteSmiles
The last one is my favourite, too! I love the little pink strip on the horizon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this great cycling project!
Oh, yes, at 10 pm it would already be dark here in Vienna! I envy you for that extra hour of light!
ReplyDeleteWe have "summer time" here too which allows the days to be one hour longer, but many people are still discontented with the change, after all that years...
I would wish for another hour of light in the evening :)))
Lovely Pictures here, like the firstone very much!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, Eric(NL)
Very nice shots here, i like the first-one the most!!!
ReplyDeleteNice weekend, Eric(nl)
Linda thanks for your comments ,I don't why the link doen't work...so i remove it ! To enlarge the photos , i do nothing except to download them in a big size ! Does it make sens ?
ReplyDeleteI love sunsets and these are absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a perfect day.
ReplyDeleteThose are spectacular shots. You must live very close to the time line to have it light so late? Or you are very far north? I wouldn't be getting much of a picture at those late hours in my neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Thanks for the fire!!
ReplyDeleteThese are all fantastic images,
ReplyDeleteeven though, I admit, that roaring fire and the very last view of skies and beach could take my breath away! :-)
would have loved to stop by and join in the camp fire festivities...wonderful captures each and every one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments. I've enjoyed visiting your blogs. To answer mountain.mama's question, the beach is at 58.21 degrees North.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos, ALL of them. But I love the glow of the embers and wonder if the marshmallows were good!
ReplyDeleteLovely shots....the bike trip sounds awesome too. Happy SWF!
ReplyDeleteThe light in northern Scotland is something else. Even here in the central belt I'm aware in the summer that it's much lighter much longer than when I was in London (my friend in Belfast who moved there from London around the time I moved here noticed the same thing there).
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed. To cycle around Scotland is no small feat! Fantastic photos!
ReplyDeleteJust the kind of skies that I love. What you show us from Scotland is just great!
ReplyDeleteGreat sunset pictures!!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful photos, all of them.. I especially like the marshmallow toasting shot - the capture of fire is wonderful. Your son is very talented.
ReplyDeleteJanice.
That last picture is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteFire and water - and the future has been secured. I won't be surprised however if we make a mess of things...
ReplyDeleteJK
a stunning sunset!
